This is a multi-book series, and while you can read them as stand-alones, you really should read them in order to get the background information needed.

This story follows Will, Dixie’s estranged son, who showed up for family dinner at the end of Book 1 (The Beach House, see review HERE). Why Will left in the first place, no one knows. We just know Dawson isn’t very happy with him for leaving his mom on her own after his father died. We also learn that Will’s brother is also gone, so that’s why Dawson is so irked by him showing up - literally the last family Dixie has left. But Dixie is getting older, and she’s had some things going on with her health - can her and Will repair their relationship?

Not only is Dixie’s life turned upside down, but now Julie’s daughter Colleen shows up, and she’s brought someone with her. Julie is thrown for a loop, ESPECIALLY when Michael shows up on behalf of Colleen urging him to come to Seagrove - and he’s brought his second family with him. How much more stress can Julie take? She’s now working more hours at the bookstore, and having to deal with Michael nearby, is driving her mad. What else can go wrong?

I love these books by Rachel Hanna and they are the perfect “palette cleanser” books for me. They’re also short and sweet, which I love for when I want something light hearted and an easy read. Perfect beach reads!
