I really wanted to love this book. I read “People We Meet On Vacation” for book club a few years back and devoured it. This one just didn’t grab my attention like the other book did. I wanted it to, but it just didn’t tug at me.

Wyn & Harriet broke off their engagement months ago - except they didn’t tell their friends group. Both were too busy to even mention it. With one last hurrah at the beach house before it sells, can they pull it off that’s they’re still together and keep things at status quo?

Ok, first off, NO. Why are you trying to keep the status quo? People grow up. Trying to re-live the “olden days” is doing nothing but causing issues. Sabrina is hell bent on making sure this last trip is just like how the old days were… they have to go to the same places, same faces, etc. Honestly this isn’t healthy. News Flash - people grow up after college. Not everything is the same. Stop trying to relive your glory years.

That being said - this story dragged on. It look me a while to get into it, and when I finally did, I was almost done with the book. Both of the main characters went through a lot in the years they were together - things that would break any couple up. Stress, death of family members, losing jobs, competitive schooling… but honestly, why fake it for the sake of your friends happiness for a week when you’ve been broken up for months. Just say something. Life is too short. Wyn & Harriet seemed so unhappy faking it for a week - Maybe that’s just my type A take control of the situation personality.

Interesting concept for a book - Not the fake dating turning to love. It just didn’t vibe with me. Also, the names of the characters… I have never heard of a kid named Parth. Or Wyndham. Wyndham Hotels was all I co9uld think of every time I read the name. And isn’t Parth a city in Australia?
